Resurrection Mural by Ron Dicianni

I've come across wonderful artwork by Ron Dicianni in the past and just learned of this beautiful mural of the Resurrection that took him two years to paint. It's now displayed in the Museum of Biblical Art in Dallas, Texas. Dicianni even enlisted the help of four other prominent Christian artists as some of his models. Thomas Blackshear posed as Abraham, Michael Dudash as Isaiah, Morgan Weistling as David, and Chris Hopkins as John the Baptist.

"My thoughts were a long way from spiritual ones on the day it all happened. I was very busy at the drawing board caught up in the RAT RACE we call success. A home with a custom built swimming pool, the proper Cadillac and station wagon. A lovely wife, seven great children, a live in Mother and Father-in-law, two dogs, three cats, fifteen snakes, four turtles, etc., etc. When the phone rang and the caller introduced herself, I remembered a promise I had made five months earlier, a promise to do a painting for a religious art show – a promise I had forgotten minutes after I had made it..." Kissing the Face of God

Painted by Morgan Weistling who said:

"This painting was first inspired by a song that I heard one day. Sometimes, hearing one phrase is all it takes, and then a flood of inspiration follows. The phrase “kissing the face of God” immediately struck me with this powerful image of Mary and the Baby Jesus. It is an image that we have seen depicted many times, but never simply as a mother and her child with real tenderness. I started to contemplate the awesome privilege that Mary was given, being able to hold God in her arms, but also keeping in mind that He was still her baby. This cute little child whom she bore was also God in the flesh. And yet, she cuddled and kissed Him, just as all mothers do with their babies. This thought propelled me right into this painting which I wanted to be a very human representation of divinity. My prayer is that the viewer will be struck, as I am, with the amazing way that God chose to send His Son into this world — in pure humility."
